A distraught New Jersey man sipping Natural Ice bear and holding a knife engaged in an armed standoff with more than a half-dozen police officers Wednesday around dusk behind the Red Raven Tavern on Old Lincoln Highway in the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township.
The man, who is in his late-30s, peacefully surrendered to police at around 8:30 p.m. and was transported by squad car to Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol Township for a mental health evaluation, Lt. Hank Ward told LevittownNow.com.

Police are not expected to file charges against the man.
Ward said the man – dressed in a white Bucks County Courier Times t-shirt, dark pants and a cap – was upset over “work-related issues” and called 9-1-1 at around 7 p.m., asking police to kill him. Police did not release where the man was employed, but said it was not too far away from the scene of the standoff.
The man made threatening moves towards police when they first arrived, Ward said. Several officers at the scene had weapons drawn, including one with a shotgun that fires bean bags.

“There’s a standoff – right here, right in my backyard,” one woman was overheard saying into her cell phone.
Officer John Yeager, a trained crisis negotiator, was able to talk the man down.
After being patted down, the man was spotted shaking hands with an officer before being taken from the scene.

No injuries were reported, however, the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad stood-by nearby the scene.
