The attorney for 23-year-old Ashley Zauflik told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he plans to appeal a recent state court ruling that reduces the young woman’s jury awarded payout from $14 million on $500,000.

Zauflik lost a leg after a Pennsbury School District bus lunged forward in 2007 at the Pennsbury High School East Campus and ran her over. In addition to losing her leg, Zauflik suffered other serious injuries from the crash.

The jury awarded the $14 million payout in 2011, but a Bucks County judge in 2012 ruled the amount should be reduced to $500,000, which is the state liability cap for local government agencies, according to the Inquirer report.
