The charges stem from an alleged fight last week at a residence in the 2000 block of New Falls Road in the Newportville section of Bristol Township.
Yates’ brother told police he was with his mother and answered her cell phone, as she was sleeping and he did not want to disturb her, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

The voice on the other end of the phone immediately began yelling about an unpaid cell phone bill, the brother told police. He added that the voice then threatened to beat him up if he did not pay the bill.
A short time later, police say the angry brother arrived at his mother’s home and started pushing his mother to wake her up. According to court papers, Yates then attacked his brother and punched him with a closed fist about 20 times.
Police said the mother tried to stop the fight and Yates then pushed her down multiple times.

Yates told the two that if they called police and he got arrested, he would beat his brother the “F” up and have someone else beat up his mother, according to court papers.
The mother told officers Yates took her cell phone so she could not call police, but left it in the room before he left.
A police officer arrived to find swelling and blood on the head of the brother who was attacked. Yates’ mother suffered a minor scratch.
