Langhorne Man Charged with 7 Burglaries

A Langhorne Borough man has been charged with seven burglaries in Middletown and Bensalem.

George Simon Jr., 32, of West Richardson Avenue, was video arraigned Thursday morning before Penndel District Judge Daniel Baranoski on seven counts of burglary, criminal trespassing, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and related offenses.

Below is a list with details provided by police of the various burglaries Simon is accused of being behind.

  • June 3, 30 block of Hollow Road, Middletown: Police responded to a reported burglary.Upon arrival, police discovered that the house was broken into using a brick that was through through a window. An Apple iPad and antique jewelry box were taken. The total damage and theft totaled to $2100.
  • June 10, 100 block of Colonial Drive, Middletown: A couple reported their home was entered through a rear kitchen window. An iPad, laptop and case valued at $1,500. At the house, police said they found finger prints on the broken window on the outer glass. The scene was processed and the prints turned over to a Bensalem police detective who ran them against data bases. A witness told police he saw a suspicious black 2013 Ford Explorer and person at the house which was broken into. He added that the suspicious person walked to the rear of the house and shortly after leave the area. The witness copied down a partial license plate number.
  • June 10, 50 block of Rust Hill Road, Middletown: A homeowner reported her house was entered through a rear sliding glass door. Two boxes of jewelry were take. Between damage and theft, the loss to the homeowner was $3,100.
  • June 10, 100 block of Forsythia Drive North Middletown: Police responded to reports that a burglary had happened. The homeowner said the suspect entered by breaking out a glass rear bedroom window. The resident did not report anything missing, but advised the damage cost was $250. A witness reported that a dark SUV was spotted outside the house at around noon. A possible suspect was spotting snooping around the house before going outback. The man got back in his car about 15 minutes later and left.
  • June 11, 40 block of Lower Orchard Road, Middletown: The homeowner told officers that someone broke a rear window in the dining room. A Dell laptop and various credit cards were taken. The homeowner said the suspect attempted to enter a large gun safe stored on in a second-floor bedroom. The homeowner provided police with a details of where his credit cards were used without permission across Lower Bucks County.
  • June 12, 3210 First Avenue, Bensalem: Police responded to a reported burglary to discover a home was entered through the back bedroom window. At least $5,000 worth of jewelry and accessories was stolen along with checkbooks and prescription medication.
  • June 14, 10 block of Spinythorn Road, Middletown: A $250 rear living room window was broken and $2,500 with of jewelry and prescription medication bottles were stolen.

Through interviews with witnesses, fingerprints, a search of PennDOT records and surveillance images captured when Simons used credit cards stolen from one of the homes, police named him the suspect in the rash of daytime break-ins, according to court papers.

Police spotted Simon driving his black Explorer on June 14 and arrested him, authorities said.

During an interview with investigators, Simon admitted to committing all of the burglaries, police said. Court papers detail the interview where the 32-year-old admitted he used force to enter the homes and occasionally wore latex gloves. He also said he stole electronic tablets, laptops, jewelry and jewelry boxes, and cash and credit cards, police reported.

Following the burglaries, according to police, Simon said he electronics were traded to drug dealers for opiates and some items were sold to area pawn shops and precious metal dealers. He added that some stolen credit cards were used at various area businesses.

Detectives executed a search Tuesday on the Explorer and discovered several items inside the vehicle that were reported stolen. Police also said they uncovered 7 folded wax papers containing suspected heroin. Receipts and items purchased with the stolen credit cards were found, police said.

Simon was remanded to county jail on 10 percent of $350,000 bail on the latest charges. He was charged with the Colonial Drive burglary at the time of his arrest and was sent to jail unable to post bail in that case on June 14.
