Paul Harris, 31, of Spruce Street in Bristol Borough was held over for trial by District Court Judge Frank Peranteau Sr. Thursday on charges of endangering the welfare of children and simple assault.
Harris who was taken into custody on May 23 ย after a social worker from Bucks County Children and Youth called on borough police for assistance when the defendant refused to allow her ย into his home for a well-being check of the children in the home, police say.

Harris admitted to police that he hit his daughter with a belt after she got out of the house striking her several times in which the little girl attempted to run from the attack, striking her again because he was unhappy with the results of the initial strikes,police said.

Police said at the time they found bruising and marks on the 3-year-old’s back and buttocks. A doctor who examined the child, noted various bruises healing at different rates suggesting the beatings happened over a period of time.

Harris is scheduled for a formal arraignment on July 19 at Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. He remains in Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
