Middletown-based wireless home security business LifeShield Inc. was recently bought by DirecTV for an undisclosed amount of money, according to various reports.
According to SecurityInfoWatch.com, a security industry news website, the pay-TV distributor bought the LifeShield as part of an effort to compete with Time Warner and Comcast, who both have started offering home security services in the past few years. Comcast even sells its Xfinity Home Security from a store they operate less than a mile from the Cable Boulevard offices of LifeShield.

DirecTV is expected to start marketing LifeShield’s security systems to its customers start next year, an Los Angeles Times story states.

DirecTV told the Philadelphia Business Journal earlier this month they plan to keep the current management team in place.
