Many would say 46-year-old Robert McManus doesn’t have a lot of luck.
The reason: He’s been arrested 14 times since February and had two encounters with police in one day, according to Falls Township police.

The latest incident happened Monday after a caller reported McManus taking a leak in the parking lot of a shopping center in Falls, police said.
Monday’s police encounters started just before 8 a.m. when a woman reported seeing him asking for a ride in the parking lot of Calvary Gospel Church on Lincoln Highway, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Police arrived and said McManus, who appeared intoxicated, needed a ride to Emmaus Road Church on Queen Anne Drive, because the pastor lets him stay on a bench outside the church.
The responding office gave McManus a ride to the church and confirmed with a church official that the 46-year-old is allowed to sleep on a covered bench outside.

The officer’s kindness must have been quickly forgotten.
Several hours after, the same officer who gave McManus a ride responded to the call that a man had just urinated outside the shopping center and was stumbling. According to police, the officer arrived to find McManus passed out against the side of a building. He appeared drunk when awoken.

McManus is charged with five counts of public drunkenness and one county of disorderly conduct. He was arraigned Monday night before on-call District Judge John Waltman and sent to county jail on 10 percent of $20,000 bail.
