The second of three community organized meetings on the proposed school consolidation in the Neshaminy School District will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Oliver Heckman Elementary School in the Langhorne section of Middletown Township.

District and school board officials will gather to discuss the proposed plan to shutter Samuel Everitt, Oliver Heckman and Lower Southampton elementary schools.  The proposal includes redistricting to accommodate students from the closed schools. It also includes a $50 million bond to build a $35 million new elementary school at the Tawanka Learning Center site on Brownsville Road in Lower Southampton, a large addition to Pearl S. Buck Elementary School in Middletown and needed renovations to the remaining buildings.

At last week’s meeting at Everitt in the Levittown section of the township, parents voiced concerns that the new, larger school in Lower Southampton will be too big, with a capacity of 1,200.

School board President Richie Webb told community members last week that the plan was not a “done deal.” He said the district welcomed residents thoughts.
