A medical emergency lead to a special military reunion over the weekend at St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown.
Richard Wynkoop, 64, a resident of Levittown, was illed recently by a heart attack, according to Fox 29 and the hospital. His 36-year-old son, Navy Petty Officer Richard Wynkoop, was deployed thousands of miles away in South Korea.

The elder Wynkoop’s wife, Jackie, reached out to friends of her son who got the Navy air warfare specialist to speak with his supervisor. The supervisor worked with the Red Cross set up a flight home so the Petty Officer could visit his sick father, who was being treated by a team of doctors and nurses at the hospital.
When Petty Officer Richard Wynkoop arrived stateside at his home base in Norfolk, Va., he was escorted by 50 motorcycles from Warriors’ Watch, a military support group. At 11 a.m. on Sunday, the special motorcade arrived at the hospital.
A father and son were reunited.

According to Fox 29, the Wynkoops will be reunited for the next week before the petty officer ships back to Asia.
