Sobriety Checkpoint Nabs 5 DUI Drivers

The weekend sobriety checkpoint held by state troopers in Bucks County netted five DUI suspects, authorities said.

According to information released by the state police on Monday, five people were arrested for DUI, 17 were cited for traffic violations and 11 were issued warnings.

The checkpoint location was not released.

Police – both state and local – hold sobriety checkpoints in an effort to reduce alcohol and drug related vehicle wrecks. In 2009, 32 percent of vehicle accident deaths in the state were caused by DUI crashes.
