Wear Teal Friday to Raise Awareness About Sexual Assault

April is talkearlytalkoftenlogoweb_6Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the United States.

The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

The Network Of Victim of Assistance (NOVA)  is holding its  2nd Annual Wear Teal to Work Day to raise awareness of sexual assault today.

Wearing Teal today will illustrate your support for the need  to bring community resources together to highlight and thwart sexual violence as a major public health, human rights, and social justice issue.

According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NVRC),  in 2001,  U.S. states and territories were surveyed and based on their responses, teal became the official color representing sexual violence awareness and prevention.
