This morning, as you are reading this, a small caravan will venture out towards Pittsburgh for the Pennsylvania ย Level Five ย Stateย Championships, to be held at ย Gym Dandy’s ย on 231 Park Ave in Washington Township.

A trio of lil darlings from the area ย will take on the rest of the state and expect nothing less than to bring gold back to Bucks County.

Erika Chichilitti, 10, of Langhorne; Kassidy Georgivich, 8, of Levittown and Denise Strubilik, 7, of Yardley will represent Bucks Gymnastics Center II at a ย level five meet starting Saturday where they will compete among 66 other girls for the right to be called champion of their skill level.

Coached by Chrstine Mulherin, for the Falls Township based gym center, the trio, she expects will do well.

Chichilitti, the “shy one” of the bunch, soars and flips through the air with a sense of confidence bordering on scary for someone with little knowledge of the sport.

But that skill didn’t come easy for the lil master of the balance beam, her mother, Patti says.

“She took a fall and I knew by looking at it (her ankle) something was wrong..her ankle was broken, said Chichilitti.

“Once we got her ย back on the beam, though, her fearย disappearedย and its one of ย her strongest events, now” Mulherin said.

“She’s the ย team leader, of the group, she might be a little shy, but she is strong and powerful…” doing her skills, said Mulherin.

Georgivich, giggles and all, ย is the Ms. personality of the bunch. ย Wearing a shirt that says ” I bust mine, to kick yours” her wry grin ย lights up a room with an energy and grace to match ย Mulherin said.

Georgivich’s Mother, Kim, said her her daughter is so committed to the sport that she’s very aware of how her diet can affect her performance and tailors her diet to maximize her energy level.

Kassidy and Erika are the best of friends and since theย families live so close to each other they spend a lot of time pushing each other to master ย skills together.

They both love ย to clown to around, like most young girls do, trying to keep their energetic souls happy; ย but ask them to perform a skill or routine, and ย theirย event day faces take over, as they did flying by head spinning and flipping with laser likeย concentration.

The last of three, Denise, ย Mulherin said ย with a coach’s pride, is so powerful doing the floor exercises, and ย bars too,” pointing out that she’s the youngest of the three.

“She is a little house of fire.”

So as you’re going throughout the day tomorrow, send a good a thought the girl’s way in the hopes they bring gold home to the community.

Although they might not need it, since Georgivich looked me straight in the eye and confidently said “we’re getting all nines, that’s all I know!,” as Erika nodded in agreement. ”

Good luck to theย families, and Coach Mulherin!
