
A man captured on surveillance video stealing a college student’s wallet and iPhone from her car parked at the Wawa on the corner of New Falls and Bristol Oxford Valley roads was nabbed a short time later, Bristol Township police said.
Nathan Phillips, 19, of Radcliffee Street in Bristol Township, is charged with theft from a vehicle, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance and related charges.

Police were dispatched to the Wawa Sunday at 7:17 p.m. after a woman reported the theft of her items, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Police reviewed surveillance video from the store and spotted Phillips loitering in the parking lots of Walgreens and Wawa. The footage showed Phillips walking up to several vehicles before deciding to enter the woman’s Chevrolet Venture minivan and took her white iPhone and black floral print wallet, which contained her drivers license, college identification card and debit card, police said. The video also showed the suspect stuffing the stolen items into his waistband and walking away, according to authorities.
Phillips was located on Inkberry Road in Levitown’s nearby Indian Creek section, court documents said.

According to police, he was found to have the victim’s cell phone in the back pocket of his jeans.
When officers searched Phillips at the police station, he was found to have a hypodermic needle containing suspected heroin in his sock, authorities said. The needle will be sent to the crime lab for analysis.

Phillips told investigators he stole the victim’s iPhone and wallet from her car, police said. He further told authorities he discarded of the stolen wallet along a creek.
According to court records, Phillips posted 10 percent of $10,000 bail and was released from custody on Monday.
