

A truck was destroyed in a fast-moving fire that shut down part of Route 13 on Monday.

Late Monday afternoon, firefighters were called to Route 13 southbound between Mill Creek Road and Levittown Parkway in Falls Township for a reported vehicle fire.

Falls Township Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the driver was traveling when smoke started coming from the passenger side of the cab. He stopped and the flames grew.
A LevittownNow.com reader driving on Route 13 said he saw smoke pouring from the cab and minutes later saw thick dark smoke coming from the scene.

Reader Samantha Morgan captured video of the truck ablaze and firefighters putting it out.
The driver was unhurt in the fire, Dippolito said.

The fire marshal did not have a cause for the blaze that destroyed the truck.
Route 13 was closed for a short time in the area of the fire. Traffic on Mill Creek Road and Levittown Parkway was impacted due to the closure.
Levittown Fire Company No. 1 and the Tullytown Fire Company responded to the scene.
