A contractor working on the roof of a distribution center in Falls Township had to be rescued after suffering a medical emergency.

Falls Township Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the contractor began suffering the medical emergency and needed to be taken down by firefighters using a ladder truck and a tower truck.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Friday at the vacant former Rite Aid distribution center on Queen Anne Court, which sits off Cabot Boulevard East.
Firefighters took to the roof and were able to load the man onto a rescue basket.

Using the ladder and tower trucks, firefighters were able to bring him down to the care of the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, according to the fire marshal.
The ambulance transported to the man to a local hospital in unknown condition, Dippolito said.

Due to the complicated nature of the rescue, a number of emergency crews were called to the scene.
The Fairless Hills, Falls Township, Morrisville, Penndel, and William Penn fire companies responded.
