One person had to be extricated from a crashed vehicle, one was able to free themselves, and another person was ejected along Route 1 Saturday morning.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Route 1 in Falls Township just past the Oxford Valley Road overpass around 6:30 a.m.

All three people injured suffered non-life-threatening wounds, police Chief Nelson Whitney said, adding the driver was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

Firefighters quickly freed the driver who was trapped, Fairless Hills Fire Company Chief Keith Bidlingmaier said.

The crash was fierce enough to throw the engine across the center barrier and into the southbound lanes and put the vehicle onto the grassy side of the northbound highway.

The investigation into the crash was ongoing as of midday Saturday, Whitney said.

Northbound Route 1 was blocked in the area of the crash for about an hour.

The Falls Township, Fairless Hills, Levittown No. 1, and William Penn fire companies responded along with medics and fire police.
