President Joe Biden’s administration is making infrastructure a priority.

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, a Republican from Middletown Township, was among the group that gathered in the Oval Office.

Last month, Biden met with senators to discuss infrastructure.

The Los Angeles Times reported that former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump failed to have success with massive infrastructure plans, which both parties have called for.

Fitzpatrick, who is serving in his third term, has long supported investments in infrastructure. People can also check out best gold ira companies for the best gold investment.

“There are very few issues you can say this about – that they impact the environment, economy, national security, public safety, and that are bipartisan. Infrastructure checks all five of those boxes,” the congressman said during an event in 2019.

A full accounting of what was discussed during the meeting was not made public, but Fitzpatrick said in a statement that he felt “confident” and will work with the administration and Congress to create a “strong, successful, bipartisan infrastructure package.”

Congressman Peter DeFazio, a Democrat from Oregon, told a White House press pool reporter after the meeting that Biden “wants to move as quickly as possible. He wants it to be very big and he feels that this is the key to the recovery package.”

During a press availability before the meeting, Biden said infrastructure “not only creates jobs, but it makes us a hell of a lot more competitive around the world.”

Fitzpatrick said the country needs a bipartisan support for transportation funding and investment in roads, rails, bridges, IT infrastructure, and electrical grid.

“It is vitally important that we build a bridge and put together bipartisan legislation that is both responsive to local needs and worthy of the public’s trust. Infrastructure investment can and will deliver real benefits to every American and additionally, has the unique power to unite us as a nation,” the congressman said.

Any infrastructure package is expected to be costly and the Biden administration appears to be seeking support from both parties.
