Arrests Made, Group Flees As Levittown Business Damaged Overnight

Several people were arrested and more fled after a gathering at a Levittown shopping center early Monday morning.

Two Bristol Borough police officers were traveling up Veterans Highway in Middletown Township’s Levittown section when they spotted a gathering in the Skyline Plaza shopping center near the intersection with Trenton Road at 12:20 a.m. One man was spotted striking the glass door of Porfirio’s Pizza and Pasta II, according to court papers.

The Bristol Borough officers quickly pulled into the shopping center. The group that was estimated to be 20 to 30 people strong fled toward nearby Dolphin Lane, police said.

The Bristol Borough officers chased down some of the people fleeing.

David Viah, 20, of Willingboro, New Jersey, was arrested as he entered a black Lexus with New Jersey plates, police said.

Maurice Kobassic, 25, of Hamilton, New Jersey, was nabbed and accused of striking the pizza shop’s door with a black aluminum baseball bat, police said.

A Middletown officer ended up arresting Elijah Griffin, 26, of Ewing, New Jersey, during a traffic stop after spotting him traveling on Veterans Highway with no headlights or taillights activated while traveling on the shoulder at a high rate of speed near East Lincoln Highway. A Bristol Borough sergeant identified Griffin as a driver who fled at the corner of Dolphin and Trenton roads, police said.

Viah was charged with attempted trespassing, conspiracy, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief. He was arraigned by District Judge Daniel Baranoski at 8:15 a.m. Monday and jailed on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

Kobassic was arraigned by Baranoski around 8:30 a.m. Monday on charges of attempted trespassing, conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit criminal trespassing, and conspiracy to engage in disorderly conduct. He was released after posting 10 percent of $75,000 bail.

Griffin was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and a number of summary traffic violations. He was sent to the county correctional facility by Baranoski on 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
