St. Patrick’s Day Parade Cancelled Over COVID-19 Concerns

Following the lead of towns and cities across the world, the Bucks County St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been cancelled due to concerns over COVID-19, also known as the novel coronavirus.

Maria Galloway, who is on the parade organizing committee, said the pre-parade mass, parade, and Hoolie will not take place this year. Organizers met Wednesday evening and decided to opt on the side of caution.

Bucks County only has two confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday afternoon.

Health officials across the country have urged caution with large gatherings with the goal of reducing the spread of the virus, which puts older and immuno-compromised residents.

The parade that marches through Falls and Bristol townships was celebrating its 32nd year.

The theme for 2020 parade was slated to be “Irish Pride and Public Service” and former retired Bristol Township police Lt. Terry Hughes was set to be the grand marshal.
