Escorted by their parents, police, and safety advocates, about three dozen students walked through the Twin Oaks neighborhood to school Wednesday morning.
The students were taking part in International Walk To School Day. The event was supported by St. Mary Medical Center, Safe Kids Bucks County, FedEx, AAA Mid-Atlantic, Middletown police, TMA Bucks, and the community at Neshaminy School District’s Pearl Buck Elementary School.

The event was designed to draw attention to safe pedestrian habits for students. Nationally, more than 15,000 children are struck by vehicles every year.
“This is a great way of educating the community about safer routes and safe practices for walking, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. Educational events like this that include children, parents, educators and local police help build connections between families, schools and the broader community,” TMA Bucks spokesperson David Walter said.
