The entire incident started at 10:06 p.m. Saturday when officers responded to a report from a neighbor on Idlewild Road that Dunn had allegedly shot their cat with a crossbow. The neighbor’s sons went to Dunn’s home in the 100 block and took his crossbow while police were being called.

Police could not find Dunn, who they believed may have been armed, and began looking for him.

The Bucks County South Emergency Response Team was activated, police said, and located Dunn shortly after midnight Sunday.

Dunn had previous run-ins with police and they ended up taking one of his weapons during a 2015 call, Lt. Ralph Johnson said.

Vincent Carroll, who owns the cat that was shot, said the family pet was at Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in Middletown and sedated at of 2 a.m. Sunday. A surgeon will likely have to operate on the feline.

“My daughter has a $5,000 bill for the cat already on her card,” he said.

Carroll said he has no problems with Dunn’s wife and the children that live in the home, but added that the 31 year old has caused problems in the neighborhood before.

Neighbors gathered near the police scene in the Indian Creek neighborhood as officers donned their tactical gear.

“The police have been to that house before,” one resident said.

Carroll said he had turned a portion of the dart that struck the cat and the crossbow that allegedly belonged to Dunn over to police.
