A Northampton woman has been charged after police allege she was involved in a Tuesday morning hit-and-run crash in Middletown.
Amanda Lynn Tyler, 28, was identified shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning as Middletown police arrived to the intersection of Veterans Highway (Route 413) and Sycamore Road. Officers were responding to a report of a hit-and-run crash, police said.
During Tyler’s interaction with the police, officers smelled alcohol on her breath and noticed her bloodshot and glassy eyes. Tyler failed the field sobriety tests police administered, according to court papers.
When police attempted to take Tyler into custody, she became unruly and refused to cooperate. Tyler moved her arms in front of her body and refused to get into the patrol car, police said.
When Tyler finally got into the car, she allegedly told authorities that her 17-month-old daughter was home alone, because her boyfriend had left for work.
According to the probable cause affidavit, two officers went to Tyler’s address and found the child in her crib. Officers also reportedly found suspected marijuana and various pieces of alleged drug paraphernalia in plain view.
Tyler was charged with DUI, causing a crash involving damage to a vehicle or property, endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and related traffic offenses.
Tyler was arraigned at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday by District Judgeย Daniel Baranoski and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $75,000 bail.
