Steam rose from the crumpled front-end of a silver car that slammed into the wall of the Ross at the Levittown Town Center Wednesday morning.

The driver of the car, according to authorities, was pinned but had exited the badly damaged vehicle that was lodged in the side of the retail store in Tullytown by the time police arrived. Chief of Police Daniel Doyle said the man was uncooperative and suffered injuries, including a wound to his wrist.

A witness who was turning toward Ross from the Home Depot area watched the man’s car drive quickly into the wall without stopping. Doyle confirmed the account and said surveillance video confirmed the man drove straight across the parking lot without breaking before slamming into the wall around 8:40 a.m.

The chief said police suspect the crash was an intentional act.

The driver was taken to Lower Bucks Hospital and later transported to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia for further treatment, Doyle said. Bystanders at the hospital said police accompanied the man on the helicopter.

There were no other injuries as a result of the crash, Doyle said.

As of noon, it was not clear whether or not Ross would reopen Wednesday.
