PHOTOS: Ferrari Destroyed in Fire at Hospital

A red Ferrari luxury sports car was destroyed in Wednesday night’s fire in the parking garage of St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown.

Below is a photo of the sports car after the fire:

Fire officials say the blaze started in one vehicle and quickly spread to another. The Ferrari was destroyed and the other vehicle, described by a source as “a more modest choice,” was heavily damaged.

The cars were parked in a first-floor physician parking area in the hospital’s parking structure.

Newer Ferrari models often retail between $150,000 and $300,000.

No injuries were reported and officials are still investigating the cause.

Crews were called to the scene just after 5 p.m. Newtown firefighters arrived first and went to work with other arriving companies to douse the flames, Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said.

In all, 11 fire companies responded to the scene, some were needed for special assignments, Langhorne-Middletown Fire Chief Frank Farry told

McGuire said the scene was chaotic when they arrived because people were trying to move their cars from the garage.

Ambulances were diverted from the hospital for a short period of time while crews were putting out the fire.

The Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
