A husband-and-wife team of former research scientists is bringing a clinical perspective to holistic medicine with the opening of a new 4,000-square-foot health center on Veterans Highway.
Healing Your Way, which is located at 1909 Veterans Highway in Levittown, marks an expansion for co-owners Dr. Danny Tu Khounh and Meenal Patel, who operate existing locations in Newtown and Doylestown.

The facility, which Patel describes as a “holistic health hospital,” integrates acupuncture, hypnosis, Trager Approach, integrative medicine, physical therapy, personal training, nutritional counseling, light therapy, organic meal prep/cooking, and recovery equipment.

The center’s design has an eye on environmental wellness, featuring moss-covered walls to ground the space and specialized lighting designed to block blue light frequencies.
“You’re getting healing the minute you step inside,” Patel said, noting that traditional LED and fluorescent lights can trigger headaches. “The moss is great. It’s grounding. It also helps with electromagnetic frequencies.”

Dr. Danny Tu Khounh, who holds a doctorate in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, spent 25 years in pharmaceutical research before transitioning to full-time practice three years ago. His resume includes 15 years as an acupuncturist for the Philadelphia Flyers and current work with cancer patients through the nonprofit Unite for Her.
The couple’s scientific backgrounds distinguish their practice from many holistic centers. Both worked as scientists in an RNA biotechnology company before establishing their healing practice in Bucks County in 2002.

“Most practitioners, if they go for acupuncture school, they’ll come from English majors and then they’ll go to get an acupuncture degree and they won’t understand the science,” Patel said. “I have not come across other people who do both. They’re scientists.”
The facility’s staff includes four practitioners trained in the Trager Approach, a method using repeated movement to release physical and emotional tension. All four are currently Doctor of Physical Therapy students as well as certified personal trainers and nutritionists.
“In order to release the pain, the mind has to let go,” Dr. Danny Tu Khounh said. “Basically, repeated movement on a certain part of the body will trigger the mind. OK. Let it go.”

In addition to bodywork, the center features
- Halotherapy sauna
- HaloRed light therapy
- Hot and cold plunge pools
- Mind-body services including hypnosis and emotional freedom technique (EFT) led by Patel.

The facility also includes a chef, David Cunningham, who teaches meal preparation and nutrition using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

“He’s an organic farmer and he grows his own vegetables and herbs organically. And he’ll teach meal prep,” Patel said. “He will be teaching nutrition.”
Dr. Danny Tu Khounh said that the practice is intended to work alongside conventional medicine. He noted that looking at a patient “as a whole” has allowed him to identify issues that may be overlooked in emergency departments.
The business has built its clientele entirely through word-of-mouth referrals, with patients traveling from California, Texas, South Carolina, Maine, Boston, and Utah for treatments.

“If one person comes in, then they bring their whole family,” Patel said. “That’s what happens every time.”
The name “Healing Your Way” reflects the practice’s personalized approach to treatment, with multiple interpretations including “healing the way you want it,” “healing coming your way,” and “healing your path.”

“We want to wake them up and transform them. We don’t want them to just come and heal their issue,” Patel said. “The reason they have a health issue in the first place is because they’re not listening to why they’re here.”
While many services are membership-based or out of pocket for one on one sessions, the center accepts insurance for acupuncture treatments.
Future plans for the Levittown location include group classes in Qi gong, mentastics, nutrition, circuit training, tai chi, and meditation.
