Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that it will hold two virtual public meetings to discuss a study of three at-grade rail crossings in southeast Pennsylvania.

The crossings in the study are located on Meetinghouse Road in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County; Woodbourne Road in Middletown Township, Bucks County; and Township Line Road/Big Oak Road in Middletown and Lower Makefield Townships, Bucks County. The study is being conducted using funds from the Federal Railroad Administrationโs Railroad Crossing Elimination Program.
The delays at these crossings impact residents and businesses, as well as schools and first responders. At times, driver frustration has led to unsafe choices, like trespassing through the closed gates and illegal turnarounds in the roadway. The study will evaluate a range of solutions to enhance community safety at these crossings.
At both meetings, information on existing conditions at each crossing will be shared, as well as potential near-term and long-term improvements, and an overview of the studyโs next steps.
