The incident took place at about 3:57 a.m., but the resident did not report it for nearly five hours because they did not discover it until reviewing security camera video later in the morning, police said.

The resident believes someone went through a vehicle parked in the driveway, outside the cameraโ€™s view, before checking the garage door, police said.

Footage shows two people attempting to open the door before leaving.

No damage to the vehicle or residence was reported.

Police said the footage appears to show at least one person carrying a handgun.

Police said believe those involved may be the same people connected to a nearby Colonial Drive incident about 20 minutes later in which shots were fired.

Police asked residents to call 911 if they see suspicious activity and not to confront anyone. They advised residents to provide descriptions, location and direction of travel, note the nearest cross street, preserve any video footage and keep homes and vehicles locked.

Police said the people involved should be considered armed and dangerous.
