Police Seek Wanted Man Involved In High-Speed Pursuit

Falls Township police are working to track down a 46-year-old wanted man who led an officer on a high-speed pursuit Monday morning.

Christopher Plytas Jr., of the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township, is wanted on charges of fleeing and attempting to elude an officer, reckless endangerment, careless driving, and related offenses stemming from the Falls Township incident.

A patrol officer spotted a white 2024 Ram 2500 attempting to turn left onto Lincoln Highway from Hoover Drive at 11:26 a.m. Monday. The officer recognized the truck from a law enforcement database and identified the driver as Plytas, who had an active warrant out of Upper Southampton Township for theft by unlawful taking. An unidentified passenger was also in the vehicle, police said.

After spotting the marked police cruiser make a U-turn, Plytas pulled onto westbound Lincoln Highway at an accelerated speed, police said.

The officer activated overhead emergency lights on their patrol vehicle and attempted to pull a traffic stop, but Plytas failed to pull over and ran a steady red light at Commerce Boulevard, police said.

During the chase, the officer saw Plytas swerve into oncoming traffic to bypass a vehicle in the left lane, reaching speeds between 80 and 90 mph. The officer maintained a speed of 50 mph, police said.

Plytas then moved back across the left and right lanes onto the shoulder to avoid multiple vehicles before running another red light at Oxford Valley Road, police said.

Falls Township police terminated the pursuit after the truck crossed into neighboring Middletown Township.

In addition to the new charges, Upper Southampton Township police allege Plytas was involved in a theft and receiving stolen property incident on Sept. 18, which led to an arrest warrant being issued on Sept. 22.

Plytas was scheduled to appear in Bucks County Court of Common Pleas on Monday morning for a probation/parole violation hearing tied to a Bensalem Township theft case for which he previously served time in prison. That hearing was listed as cancelled.

Plytas is described by law enforcement as 5-foot-10 and approximately 200 pounds.

Police said he is known to frequent the Fairless Hills area.
