Firefighters extinguished a house fire in the Levittown section of Middletown Township on Sunday evening.

Crews were dispatched at 7:56 p.m. to a report of a dwelling fire at a home on the unit block of Crestwood Road.
When they arrived, firefighters encountered smoke coming from a second-floor bedroom of the home.
Squirt 13 from Levittown Fire Company No. 2 was already on the road returning from an earlier call and pulled up quickly at the scene to begin the initial attack on the flames, according to William Penn Fire Company Deputy Chief Bill Smith.

Additional crews arrived shortly after to open the walls and make sure the fire did not spread, Smith said.
According to the deputy chief, the quick actions of the residents in dialing 9-1-1 and the fast response by firefighters prevented the fire from spreading further.
No injuries were reported to the residents or responding firefighters.

Damage from the blaze was contained to the upstairs bedroom, with water damage reported in the area below it, Smith said.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s Office.
In addition to the William Penn Fire Company, the Fairless Hills, Levittown No. 2, Penndel, and Third District fire companies responded.
