PennDOT District 6 officials said the years-in-the-making project targeted two high-traffic bottlenecks at the Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road intersections.

While the bulk of the construction is done, PennDOT warned motorists to expect periodic single-lane closures over the next several weeks while crews handle final punch-list items.

Work on the corridor began in 2024 and wrapped up slightly over its initial $10.9 million estimate.

Federal funding covered 80 percent of the final price tag, with state funds making up the remaining 20 percent, according to PennDOT.

Philadelphia-based contractor James D. Morrissey Inc. was hired for the overhaul, which included adding a single-lane roundabout at Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike. The roundabout opened to traffic last August.

Around Woodbourne Road, crews realigned the northern leg of the intersection and built auxiliary turn lanes on all four approaches. Workers also widened the eastern leg of Woodbourne Road to carve out a new left-turn lane on Langhorne-Yardley Road heading toward Erica Drive.

Construction crews installed ADA-compliant curb ramps, upgraded traffic signals, new signage, and modern lighting alongside standard roadway resurfacing and stormwater management systems.
