Talgat Turgunbekov, 20, of Philadelphia, was charged recently by the county detectives and arraigned last week with felony possession of controlled substance contraband by an inmate and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in connection with the April 15 incident at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown Township, according to court records and a criminal complaint.
Bucks County Department of Corrections investigators said administrative staff notified them April 15 that contraband had been discovered during an unclothed body search conducted before Turgunbekov was transferred to the Restricted Housing Unit after receiving a misconduct, according to the affidavit.
Officers allegedly recovered a white oval-shaped pill and a folded piece of yellow paper containing a white powdery substance inside a small glassine bag, which was secured as evidence, authorities said.

Investigators said a corrections officer reported finding the bag hidden inside Turgunbekov’s left sock during the search.
When asked what the items were, Turgunbekov allegedly responded, “subs,” according to court papers.

Police said the term commonly refers to Suboxone or Subutex, the brand and generic forms of buprenorphine, a controlled substance.
As part of the investigation, investigators said they confirmed in May that Turgunbekov did not have a prescription for buprenorphine and had not been issued the medication by correctional facility medical staff.
Turgunbekov remains jailed on 10 percent of $25,000 cash bail ahead of an Aug. 24 before Magisterial District Judge Mark D. Douple. He is represented by Philadelphia attorney Michael Kotik.

Turgunbekov was behind bars on a 2025 aggravated assault and fleeing police case out of Bensalem Township, according to court records.
