The incident took place last Saturday at 8:48 p.m. in Middletown Township and left a 55-year-old Langhorne woman hospitalized with a broken wrist and other non-life-threatening injuries.
The husband and wife were traveling westbound together on their motorcycles for a casual ride. Both motorcycles were riding side-by-side westbound within the right lane of the highway, state police said.
Troopers said the right side of the husband’s 2022 Harley-Davidson struck the left side of his wife’s 2024 Harley-Davidson.

The impact caused the woman to lose control and strike the right guardrail, throwing her from the motorcycle onto the right shoulder of the highway, state police said.
The woman’s motorcycle sustained disabling body and windshield damage, coming to a rest on the right shoulder, state police said.

Troopers stated in a press release this week that the woman landed on the shoulder 10 feet east of her vehicle.
A witness traveling behind the couple told police she saw the 2022 motorcycle bump the 2024 motorcycle, which caused the woman to be thrown off, state police said.
The witness said the husband pulled over briefly and told his wife, “you’re never driving a motorcycle again,” before fleeing westbound, according to the state police statement.

The man failed to contact police or render aid to his injured wife, state police said.
As troopers were investigating the crash, they said they found an active Protection From Abuse order filed against the husband by his wife.

The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad transported the woman to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment, and her motorcycle was towed from the scene.

When interviewed by a trooper at the hospital, the woman said she did not know exactly what happened, but knew that her husband had left her.
