A Monday afternoon fire brought crews to Bristol Township’s Levittown section to battle flames as they tore through a home.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 12:45 p.m. for a blaze at a home in the unit block of Schoolhouse Lane.
Crews from the Edgely Fire Company, Bristol Township Fire Rescue, and several nearby companies rushed to the scene as flames shot from the home and sent thick smoke into the air.
Three residents were home and escaped without injury, Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said.

The residents, according to Dippolito, were alerted to the fire by a working smoke detector.
The fire started on the rear porch of the home, and the cause is still being investigated, Dippolito said.

The fire was placed under control in less than an hour after the blaze was first reported, according to dispatch records.
The fire marshal said the home was destroyed in the fire.
