Man Charged After Boy Reportedly Struck By Pickup Truck

A man is accused of using his pickup truck to strike a boy and chase two others this week.

Michael Morin, 41, of Levittown, was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted aggravated assault, six counts of simple assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, and several traffic offenses.

Bristol Township police said they were called around 6:45 p.m. to the area near Haines Road and Farmbrook Drive for a report of traffic crash with a struck minor.

Officers arrived to find Morin in his 2004 Ford F-150, which was positioned off the roadway on a grassy area near the sidewalk, according to police.

Investigators said the incident began when Morin confronted a group of minors he believed were responsible for damaging his truck’s windows.

One minor told police he was riding his bicycle on Haines Road when he saw the F-150 traveling toward him and his friends. The boy attempted to flee by crossing the street, but realized the truck was still heading in his direction. After ditching his bicycle to escape, the boy was struck by the vehicle, causing a knee injury, police said.

Two other boys reported similar accounts and told officers they had to get out of the way to avoid being hit.

One child hid in a nearby bush and his friend took cover with him, police said.

All three minors, whose ages were not released, alleged that Morin intentionally tried to strike them with the pickup truck, police said.

While there were no direct eyewitnesses to the reported crash, a nearby resident reported hearing screeching tires followed by a man screaming, “I just hit a kid,” according to court papers.

Responding officers noted fresh tread marks in the grass at the scene.

Police said not report whether the boys had anything to do with alleged damage to Morin’s F-150.

Morin was preliminarily arraigned Thursday morning before District Judge Terry Hughes and released after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bail.
