

Firefighters put out an accidental chimney fire Saturday afternoon at a vacant three-story brick home in Bristol Borough.

Crews were dispatched to 229 Washington St. at 3:29 p.m. after reports of a fire.
Upon pulling up, firefighters saw smoke coming from the attic area of the building, Bristol Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack said.
Firefighters located and contained the blaze to a specific section of the attic at the corner of Washington and Wood streets, Slack said.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately an hour.

While the fire appears to have been accidental, the cause remains under investigation, Slack said.
Bristol Borough Code Enforcement was notified to conduct a follow-up inspection of the property.
The Bristol; Bristol Consolidated; Goodwill Hose; America Hose, Hook, and Ladder; Edgely; Croydon; Newportville; Levittown No. 2; and Third District responded to the scene.
