Pennsbury High School families were notified late Thursday that the administration had contacted the Falls Township Police Department following an unconfirmed threat of a school shooting.

The threat, which did not identify an individual or provide additional details, was reported to a staff member by a student who said they “heard something about someone ‘with plans to shoot up the school,’” Principal Reggie Meadows and Superintendent Dr. Thomas A. Smith said in an email to parents.

While the administrators stated they “do not believe this is a credible threat.”

Falls Township police have increased presence at the school on Friday as a precaution.

“The safety and security of our students and staff are of utmost importance to us. To this end, we are committed to communicating with you about school safety matters,” the administrators said.

The email said the district takes “every situation related to student and staff safety seriously and that they are fully investigated.”

The administrators asked anyone with information related to the situation to contact them.
