As part of the borough government’s efforts to help the Bristol Borough Area Active Adult Center, Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said the building will be placed on the municipality’s insurance policy.

The senior center had been struggling to secure affordable insurance coverage due to the building’s age and existing leaks, which was creating a financial burden on the senior center on Wood Street.
Adding the former school building to the borough’s insurance policy gives it comprehensive coverage for the senior center, including protection against fire damage and liability issues.
DiGuiseppe said that the arrangement helps the Bristol Borough Area Active Adult Center continue operations in the facility that is often used.

“The people that run the senior center don’t have to worry about insurance anymore,” the longtime council president said.
The borough’s intervention saves the senior center approximately $1,200 per month, according to DiGuiseppe.

The council president said the borough continues to explore additional funding opportunities for the senior center through grants.
DiGuiseppe acknowledged that the senior center building requires substantial repairs.
In other business, Chief of Police Joe Moors pointed to several successful community engagement events, including First Responders Day at the 21st Century Camp and National Night Out.

“The whole idea is to foster these relationships with the kids in town, with the first responders, and have positive interactions,” Moors said.
Mayor Ralph DiGuiseppe III said Amtrak representatives are looking at the old train station the borough recently acquired for possible uses, including adding an increased rail police presence.
