Mark Anthony McKay Jr., 23, was found guilty of possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility following a waiver trial before President Judge Raymond McHugh, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said.

A waiver trial occurs when a defendant and prosecutor agree to have a judge decide the case instead of a jury.

Following the guilty verdict, McHugh deferred sentencing for the 23-year-old man until June 25.

The probe into McKay began in March 2022 after Bucks County Detectives received a cybertip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The report alleged a Dropbox user had uploaded multiple videos and images of child pornography to the Dropbox server, authorities said.

Dropbox officials provided detectives with the name of McKay as the user who uploaded the material and his email address, authorities said.

Detectives reviewed the videos and confirmed they depicted child sexual abuse, according to authorities.

Through the investigation of the cybertip report and the Dropbox userโ€™s IP address, McKay was identified as a suspect, prosecutors said.

Detectives said they obtained a search warrant for the Dropbox account, which was in McKay’s name, and discovered 102 files containing child sexual abuse material. The videos and images from the initial cybertip report were also found in the account.

In July 2022, a search warrant was executed at McKayโ€™s residence in the 800 block of Trenton Road in Middletown Township.

During the search, numerous electronic devices were seized, including a computer and McKayโ€™s cellphone. Child sexual abuse material was also located on his cellphone, authorities said.

The district attorney’s office said the investigation revealed that McKay had previously worked as an educational aide.

Middletown Township police and Bucks County Detectives collaborated with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations on the case.
