Dump Truck Overturns On Route 1 Ramp

A dump truck overturned on a Route 1 northbound off-ramp Wednesday morning in Middletown Township.

The crash happened on the ramp around 6:45 a.m. on the ramp leading to Maple Avenue (Route 213).

The truck’s load spilled onto the ramp and caused traffic congestion.

The driver of the truck was not reported to have sustained serious injuries.

Traffic along Route 1 northbound experienced delays before the off-ramp was closed around 8 a.m. as crews worked to remove the overturned vehicle.

A large excavator was brought in remove debris as the dump truck was turned upright.

A pickup truck then broke down on the off-ramp as traffic moved past the crash scene.

The ramp reopened around 9:20 a.m.

Middletown Township police, the Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services, and the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad all responded to the scene.
