As temperatures were in the single digits, volunteer firefighters battled flames inside a home in Bristol Township’s Levittown section.

Firefighters were called around 3:30 a.m. to Greenbrier Road for a report of a blaze
Crews responding to the scene found heavy smoke coming from the home and a vehicle in the driveway, fire officials said.
Levittown Fire Company No. 2 Chief Chris Shortt said firefighters searched the home and found no occupants.

Using a handline, firefighters were able to put out the flames, which were contained to the living room and kitchen, Shortt said.
The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported and no animals were inside the residence.
Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the cause of the blaze remained under investigation as of Thursday afternoon, but it does not appear suspicious.
The fire marshal stated that the residents had left the home earlier in the evening due to a power outage in the area.

Shortt said firefighters braved the cold to battle the flames and needed help removing equipment that had become frozen to the fire hydrant where a hose was connected.
Bristol Township Public Works Department crews responded to salt Greenbrier Road due to icing from water at the scene.
