At about 10:50 a.m., Falls Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit Sgt. Raymond Fanelli responded to the crash involving the tractor-trailer and a Ford F-550 at the intersection of Tyburn Road and New Ford Mill Road.
Police said that the Massachusetts driver of the tractor-trailer, 41, was transporting non-hazardous waste from New York to the Waste Management landfill in the township when he failed to execute a right turn, causing the truck to tip onto its side.
The tractor-trailer then slid across the road and hit the Ford F-550, which was stopped at a traffic light, police said.

Despite initial concerns of entrapment, the tractor trailer driver was able to exit the vehicle without assistance, police said.
Both he and the 31-year-old Ford driver from Norristown, Montgomery County, escaped serious injury, police said.
Investigators stated they have ruled out alcohol, drugs, and medical issues as contributing factors.

A tractor-trailer inspection led to multiple citations for the driver and the motor carrier, including violations related to the mandatory commercial driver’s license for operating commercial motor vehicles, police said.
Rob’s Towing was called to clear the scene using heavy-duty tow trucks, front-end loaders, and garbage bins to upright the overturned truck and clear the spilled trash.
The crash and cleanup led to both partial and full road closures that impacted traffic.

Falls Township police said advised neighboring police departments of the truck detours to manage the vehicles.
The road was cleared and reopened later in the day, but authorities remind drivers to remain cautious in the area as investigations continue.
