The Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA), the crime victim services organization in Bucks County, will host its second annual Upstander Day this Sunday, September 29 in Bristol Township.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is rain or shine. The location will be the Epstein Campus of Lower Bucks County Community College at 1304 Veterans Highway (Route 413).
Open to the public without charge, Upstander Day will feature an array of family-friendly activities, including games, giveaways, live entertainment, a variety of food trucks, and emergency vehicle displays, according to organizers.
The day is dedicated to celebrating “upstanders,” the people who proactively act to support victims of bullying by intervening in safe and constructive ways.

At 1 p.m., NOVA will honor five such community members with Upstander Awards. The ceremony will be led by Richard Curtis, television host of “The Class H-Room” on FOX 29 and a K-12 STEAM coordinator for the New Hope-Solebury School District.
“The Upstander Awards are an opportunity to recognize people in our community for their positive actions and impact at times when others need support,” said Mary Worthington, NOVA’s director of prevention and training

Attendees can also enjoy additional activities such as music spun by DJ Juhas, henna art, face painting, and a craft station. Door prizes will be up for grabs, including the chance to win an xBox gaming system.
The event will also serve as a hub for community groups like Bikers Against Child Abuse, Scouting America, The Rainbow Room of Doylestown, the Bucks County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and the YWCA to disseminate information about their services.
Animal enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet Roxy Therapy dogs, adopt puppies from WAGS Rescue, and interact with the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. NOVA experts will also be available to discuss topics related to parenting, child safety, and mental health.
