The skies over the Levittown area had an unusual visitor this past Saturday – a distinctive white blimp from Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Launched in March, Dick’s Sporting Goods embarked on a “spectacular four-month-long aerial extravaganza,” which saw its blimp depart from Smyrna, Tennessee.

Residents first noticed the blimp hovering over Philadelphia a few days prior.

On Saturday, locals watched it circle the Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Falls Township several times. It also flew up the Delaware River and along I-295 through the area.

According to the company, the Dick’s blimp is one of only five currently operating in American skies.

The airship, a Skyship Services A170 Lightship, measures 178 feet in length, 55 feet in height, and 46 feet in width.

Dubbed the “Dick’s House of Sport blimp,” the airship is manned by two seasoned pilots and supported by a ground crew of fifteen, according to a company press release.

The airship made its presence known as it paraded over Lower Bucks County and provided a contrast to the semi-regular sight of Goodyear’s blue airships.

The airship is slated to travel across several states, with the blimp having already flown in the skies of South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania. It will continue to Massachusetts and other states on the East Coast before the tour concludes.
