A U.S. Postal Service truck burst into flames in Middletown Township on Tuesday.

The fire occurred just before 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of Township Line and Langhorne-Yardley roads.
According to authorities, the Ford-Utilimaster FFV mail truck caught fire while on duty.
Authorities reported that the Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services and the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.

No serious injuries were reported.
The fire marshal’s office has yet to release further details on the cause.

The postal service has been in the process of phasing out the more common Grumman LLV mail trucks, a model first introduced in 1986 and last produced in 1994, for more modern and safer delivery trucks.
The Grumman truck has been known for a high number of fires, an issue highlighted in a 2019 Trucks.com report that pointed out the aging fleet’s increasing fire incidents.
