With a 36-year career within the district, McGee’s decision to retire was approved by the school board at the Tuesday evening meeting.
The school board had no comment on the leave.
McGee did not immediately return a reporter’s request for comment.
McGee’s contract with the Neshaminy School District was set to last until 2025. It is unclear how the district has navigated the agreement and McGee’s retirement.

On Friday, February 24, McGee was escorted from the administrative building at Maple Point Middle School in Middletown Township. Insiders have said that McGee was instructed not to return and was subsequently placed on leave.
The school board has remained tight-lipped about the events that led to this decision.

McGee was responsible for a budget nearing $200 million funded by taxpayers. He took home an annual salary nearing the $200,000 mark.
In the wake of McGeeโs departure, Jason Bowman, the Neshaminy School District Director of Secondary Education, has been working as the acting superintendent.
McGee’s sudden leave has sparked concerns among many parents who held him in high esteem, particularly for his strategies during the pandemic-related school resumption.

Hailing from Levittown, McGee is an alumnus of Neshaminy schools. Before taking the reins as the superintendent, following the exit of Superintendent Joseph Jones in 2020, McGee’s contributions to the district began in the classroom as a mathematics teacher.
