The Tuesday, April 11 evening class has been filled, but room remains for the Tuesday, April 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday, April 13 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. classes. An additional class has been added for Tuesday, April 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said more than 100 people have registered for the classes.

Officials said the classes are to give locals with the basic skills needed to care for a family member until emergency responders arrive.

The class is not a certification course, but rather an opportunity for residents to learn how to care for family members in an emergency, officials said.

The classes will be taught by a firefighter/EMTs who are state-certified instructors.

The classes will hit a range of topics, including severe bleeding and tourniquets, CPR for adults, children and infants, choking for adults and children and infants, diabetic emergencies, seizures and other topics as requested. Pre-registration is required for the classes, which will be held at the Bristol Township Municipal Building auditorium.

There is no minimum age to participate in the training, but all persons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, officials said.

The training is kid-friendly, and families are encouraged to attend together, according to emergency responders.
