The superintendent of the Neshaminy School District remains on leave, but district and school board officials aren’t saying why.

Superintendent Dr. Rob McGee was escorted from the administrative offices at Maple Point Middle School in Middletown Township on Friday, February 24. He was told not to return to work and he was placed on leave, according to sources with knowledge of what transpired.

The school board has not commented on the situation since McGee was removed from the administrative offices.

Last week, Chris Stanley, Neshaminy’s spokesperson, said: “The district does not have any information to share about this matter at this time.”

Reached for comment, McGee declined to speak on the matter at this time.

McGee being placed on leave was largely kept quiet from district employees and the public until rumors began to spread the Monday after he was removed from the district’s offices. The next morning, LevittownNow.com reported on the situation.

McGee, who earns close to $200,000 per year, is the district’s top non-elected official and oversees a nearly $200 million taxpayer-funded budget.

The school board has appointed Director of Secondary Education Jason Bowman as the substitute superintendent.

McGee’s contract with Neshaminy runs through 2025.

McGee being placed on leave upset many parents who think highly of the superintendent, including for his handling of returning to the classroom amid the pandemic.

McGee is from Levittown and attended Neshaminy schools. He was appointed to the superintendent position after Superintendent Joseph Jones left Neshaminy in 2020 at the end of his contract. Prior to working in administration, McGee served as a math teacher.
