
A work van was badly damaged early Saturday in a crash in Bristol Borough.

The crash happened on Pond Street outside of the Rite Aid around 5:45 a.m.
Bristol Borough police, medics, and the Bristol Consolidated Fire Company responded to the scene and found the work van damaged and on its side.
The van struck a utility pole “at a high rate of speed,” the fire company shared on social media.

The driver removed themselves from the van and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
PECO was called out and was working to replace the pole as of mid-morning.

Bristol Borough Fire Police said Pond Street was expected to closed for much of Saturday between Penn and Walnut streets while PECO repairs the damaged utility pole.
The cause of the single-vehicle crash was being investigated by police.
