Late last year, the Langhorne Hotel at the corner of West Maple and Bellevue avenues in the heart of Langhorne Borough was put up for sale.

The $2.5 million asking price is listed by Weichert Realtors and Long and Foster Real Estate

The building is mostly known for its bar and restaurant, but the large structure has been expanded and redone many times since an establishment opened at the site in 1704. The full building has two apartments and 12 room rentals.

The listings note the building offers the potential for “serious income.”

The Asta family has owned the business since 1972 and are looking to retire.

The Bucks County Herald reported Ben Asta, one of the owners, said the family was “tired” and wanted to sell the business.

“When my wife and I moved into town (in 1967), it was a loser place, you know, a place where ladies in white gloves would never go,” former Langhorne Borough Mayor Chris Blaydon told the Bucks County Courier Times. “When the Astas bought it, it was a complete turnaround. Today it has some of the best food in Bucks County.”

Like many buildings in tiny Langhorne Borough’s central business district, the building has been around to see the formation and history of America.

The age also has brought stories that the building is haunted.

The Historic Langhorne Association notes the Langhorne Hotel is the second oldest establishment of its kind in Bucks County and served as a crossroads for those traveling by stagecoach. Langhorne Borough, which was previously known as Four Lanes End and then Attleboro, was a main thoroughfare for those traveling between the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, Trenton, and New York City.

The federal National Register of Historic Places lists that the  building has seen numerous changes and altercations over the years. The structure’s importance has been listed as “significant.”
