Middletown Township is offering residents free smoke detectors.

The Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Management began distribution of smoke detectors to residents last January.
In the time since, Fire Inspector Riley Collins, who is leading the Fire Prevention Program, has distributed 300 smoke detectors.
The campaign to get smoke detectors in the hands of residents continues.

“For homeowners who have smoke detectors, remember to test them monthly and change the batteries when necessary. Smoke detectors save lives,” the township said in a statement.
